Hi Can anyone help with the following Z3 3ltr Roadster problem?: Having stored the car over winter with little use the battery ultimately goes flat- OK a new battery purchased and engine starts all OK and I then slowly move in reverse away from garage and let car idle but then notice that both Traction control warning (red triangle) light and Brake fluid level warning light are both on.
The brake fluid level is fine, traction control switch when operated does not show its "on" light working. The car drives all OK and I have done around 70 miles since problem and lights still on. A quick trip to garage to find diagnostic codes and we have SE 30 Transfer acceleration sensor and SE 38-rotation rate sensor.
Any ideas what is wrong before delving deeper into repairs?

Personally I would just clear the codes and see if they come back. Rotational sensor sounds like the wheel speed sensor, those wires get brittle and short but easy to replace. A dead battery can cause bad codes so I'd see if they are real first. Good luck

Hi - and thanks for your reply much appreciated. I had heard that a dead battery can cause warning lights to trip - that was what I was hoping had happened but I should have also said that the codes cannot be cleared/reset so I will check out sensor wires as you suggest. Cheers Mike

+1. I actually had these warning lights intermittantly for nearly 4 months before I finally took it in to the local indi BMW specialist. Having done some research, including this forum, I suspected the rear speed sensor. Sure enough it was. Not expensive and it took the shop less than an hour to complete.
