how complicated is engine installition and what are consequences

My 2011 550 xi M sport with 5k miles suffered catastrophic engine failure and my AD and SA advised me that my car will need engine replacement.
I am leasing this vehicle and have 30 mo and 40k to go....
Needless to say i am upset and experiencing far from ultimate driving experience
I would like to ask an expert or somebody WHO KNOWS
1/how complicated is procedure
2/can i trust my local dealership to perform this task
3/is it possible to cause damage, scr..... up multiple connections etc
4/ what are long term issues after replacement/ long term for me 30 mo and full waranty/thanks Alex

I WOULD BE INCLINED TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THE LEASING COMPANY,

THIS SHOULD BE UNDER BMW WARRANTY ANY WAY BUT THEY SHOULD PROVIDE YOU WITH ANOTHER CAR


OR IS THAT NOT THE CASE IN THE US

If the engine change is done by qualified personnel than you will never notice a difference but if they have the low end techs do it the possibility for complicatons later on increases exponentially

Are you saying this is not a warranty claim - what exactly happened?

Absolutely, I would have given them the car back as it's a lease car and let them sort it out, they should replace it for another as it,s there problem and it should be them chasing who ever they got the car from,,,,,

+1 to asking how the engine failed after only 5k

+1 to asking why you are worried about this if the car has a factory warranty plan and you are visiting a reputable dealer.
