For the first time in my life - excited about future f30 wagon 6-speed
With all the info coming out about the n20 engine, I am for the first time excited for the possibility of a 3-series wagon in manual trans trim.
A wagon that can pull a mid 14 second quarter mile and return low to mid 30's mpg, while still being luxurious and smooth, and offering a manual transmission.... That is pretty much automotive valhalla for a family car. Now to see it and commence with wife convincing. ... In all previous 3-series, I felt the wagon was short-changed. It was too small for a wagon, the base engine was often anemic and only offered in the wagon, and it's MPG was just "so so". So this is the first time I'm actually thinking about one as "hey, this could be hot!"

I have a 335xi sedan and miss the wide mouth hatch for cargo that my x3 has. When the x3 goes, the F31 wagon will fit my needs, too. I' ll probably get the AT 328xi with sport seats, but standard suspension and 17 inch RFTs. The roads out here need some cushion!

has it been officially announced that the F30 wagon will make it to the states, and if so, with a manual transmission?

F30 wagon (F31) yes, but still holding my breath on the transmission...and it potentially could come only as an AWD 328xiT...

The whole manual-wagon-diesel thing, for me, was always about having a torquey engine that delivered good MPG. I never cared for the actual diesel engine or the power delivery.
Now you've got something superior.
