Is the F30 335 any better than the E90 ?

My title pretty much says it all. From what I have been able to find on the reviews, it looks like the 328 F30 is a big step up from the E90 in many (most?) areas. However it looks to me like there is very little difference between the 335's that would make you want to run out and get the new one. The new AT may be better. Has anyone driven the 335 and said "yeah, I have to get the new 335? Again from what I've read I just can't see it. No difference in motor or MT, just restricting my choice of colors/interiors.

Other than the transmission, a slightly more supple ride, new interior, standard iDrive and adjustable settings for eco, sport, etc and slightly better fuel economy.

The technology and interior in the F30 is way better than my E90 I had. This combined with the fact that the N55 engine has been pretty nice and reliable have made me change my mind from a 5 series to F30 335i.

The F30 is a little bigger as well than the E90.

Reading Automobile mag's recent review I think they are subtly saying the steering feel on the E9x is way better. This is of course a major bone of contention now between E9x and F3x.

I do believe the supplety (is that a word?) of the ride and the better transmission might compensate in some ways, but for people who define the BMW thing as sublime steering feel, not so much.

I am looking forward to driving the car, just haven't gotten around to doing so.

Thanks for the list of what you see. Humm, not much on this list for me. The MT is the same, iDrive is not new, could have gotten it on the E93, more supple ride and new interior, well, I guess I will have to see for myself if I like it or not. When the E9x came out, it was so different from my E46 and was so much better in areas that I cared about, I was like, " I have to get one soon". With the F30 335 I don't feel any desire to get one asap, or at all, unless there are some upgrades to the things that matter to me. N4S

A good yardstick is how much closer is it to the competitors. The S4 is still faster.

(Because you asked: No, you were looking for "suppleness." )

Sometimes the changes between generations are more evolutionary than revolutionary. The E90 to F30 transition is one of those times.
