Z3 stereo upgrade

Im sure that everyone on here has heard this.
I bought a color coded wiring harness, hooked up quick and easy.
I get sound from my in-car speakers but not my woofer.
Also, when my stereo is in AUX or CD i get no sound at all.

I hear that you have to splice and convert wires from the original wiring harness that attaches to the stock amp.

What wires?
Where to run them?
How to attach them to the now existing unit.

I have been scratching my head and reading so much, I'm going blind and hairless.

Any help would be appreciated.

The problem is that your head unit is using the blue wire (or blue with white stripe) to energize the power antenna but is connected to the amplifier power-on circuit. It will only power-up the amplifier when the radio is selected. You will need to compare your head-unit wiring diagram with the car wiring diagram. There are plenty of postings here with the Z-3 stereo wire colors, but Iím not able to search right now. Use the "Search this Forum" button at the top right of this forum page.

I had the same problem but ended up running new wire to each speaker. It seemed odd to me to run a new stereo through an old amp.

Ended up running 4 miles of new wire and after a lot of swearing got everything in working order. Thanks for the advice.

And a big thanks to the community, I have learned so much from you guys.
