Convertable Top

The black bead around my rear window on my 1997 Z3 has come loose in the corner. What should I use to re-attach this bead. The top material has also come out of the bead along the bottom. Do you use glue when pushing the material back under the bead.

Thanks,
Jack

For reattaching the bead, I have read that silicone or RTV will work. I haven't had to do this so I can't personally vouch for how well it works.

To help keep the top material tucked under the bead, lift the top material up anywhere that it isn't stuck down well (the OEM rear windows come with double-sided tape around the window that the top material is supposed to stick to) and run a small bead of Permatex Flowable Windshield Sealant around the window under the fabric and tuck it back in. Allow it to dry overnight and you shouldn't have any problems with it lifting up anymore. It works very well...

Use "Goop" I'ts made by the same people that make "Shoe Goo" for hikers. Great stuff and comes in clear and black. It holds fast and stays pliable. I used it on a top that had been slashed by a vandal. 3yrs and still holding.

You can find it at most auto stores.
