Which tires on 1 Series (118d)

Hello there!

I am new here and I wonder if I am able to put on my bmw 215/40/17 tires. I have 17" rims which are 7.5J wide and I think the 215/40 will suit them quite well. I would like to have the same tire in front and rear (215/40) is this possible? And, is possible to put front tire wider than 205? Again, I have BMW E87, 2007 year model (it's not FL jet) and it's 118d with 123hp.

I think it can't be wrong with 215/40/17 on 7,5J. I am almost sure now that i'll just go with 215/40/17 (Front and Rear) tires. If someone still want to say something, fell free.

Here is the example of 215/40/17 on 7,5J. I think it looks good and fit it well!

215/40-17 is somewhat smaller in diameter than standard. 215/45-17 is the BMW front size with the sport package on the larger engined models. 225/45-17 should fit without a problem on wheels with offsets close to the OEM 7.5" wheels.

In the "approval" i have;

Front: 205/50/17
Rear: 225/45/17

"At the moment" I am driving on this - above tires, which are in "approval"...But I would like to have the same tires front/rear in 215/40/17 diameter....

Do you think I am "allowed" to do this? Or something can go "wrong"?

215/40-17 may work, but that size is 32mm smaller in diameter than a 205/50-17 tyre or 31mm smaller than a 225/45-17 one. This equates to 5% lower diameter. Your speedometer will show 105km/h where it would previously show 100km/h and there is a possibility that you may run into calibration issues with the ABS and DSC systems.

Ok, that is a interested information...I am not worried about speedometer. But if I would have some issues with ABS, DTC...than i am not going to use those tires. Can someone confirm me that i'll have problems with ABS and DTC in case of using same diameter of front/rear tires.
