How to change Fog light bulb on E70 ?

Does the whole bumper have to be removed to change the fog light bulb ?
It seems there is no easy access!

Thank you...

If it's anything like the pre-LCI models, you simply pop out the two side grills (they pull out), reach in your hand into the hole and find the bulb with connector that's in there. Turn the bulb to disconnect from the socket and disconnect the connector. Reverse instructions to complete.

It is pretty much the same on the LCI but there is also a little access panel that needs to be popped open too.

The drivers side is a piece of cake. On the passenger side, ('09 X5d), the DEF storage tank blocks access to anything other than a child's hands. I have very large hands. I had to remove several scres holding the bumper cover on, starting from the wheel well to about the center of the bumper. It was only then I could pry the cover far enough away to get my hand inside. I changed the fogs to color match the angel eyes.

Glad you brought this thread up as I noticed lastmonth my drivers side has a hole in it from a rock I guess but it still works. Dealer wanted $475.00, I said no no no.

All this talk motivated me to change mine out tonight, only took about 20 mins.

Passenger side is worse, but I only had issues getting the light around the secondary DEF tank, not a lot of room back there.

Where did you get the replacement and if you don't mind, how much?

Why are you changing the bulb yourself while still under warranty? Unless of course it was the result of damage to the light itself (like the rock), otherwise the dealer should change this for you at no cost.

See my other thread, bimmer specialist for ~$150 came in OEM box and definitely was a BMW part.

I would like to change my bulbs as well to match the blue angel eyes. What type of bulbs work here, and whats the proper "color" (wattage) ?
