Manual Transmission in the F10?

I was looking at BMW's web site and used the "Build Your Own" function for the 528i, 535i, and 550i. There doesn't seem to be a way to get it with a stick. Is that the case?

Check the Options section. You can select manual trans for 535i or 550i, non Xdrive models only.

I went to the Options section. The only transmission option that appears is Sport automatic transmission with shift paddles. If I go to the Options section for the 650i, for example, I see the option for the manual transmission, but I'm not seeing it for any of the 5 series.

There's a discrepancy on the BMWUSA website - the "features & specs" section describes MT as standard on the 535i and 550i sedans, but the configurator doesn't have it. I would guess it's the configurator that is wrong. I don't think BMW would silently drop this in the US market.

Maybe there is no reason to want to drive a F10 with a stick?
Get ZF's Sport Automatic Transmission!
And enjoy.

Trust me the 2012 F10 535i/550i are both available with 6MT. It does not show on the build your own website and it never has. Just submit your order with your dealer and they can do it. As for pricing..it is a no cost option so the price is the same with 6MT if you select the regular automatic on the build you own website.

You're right. Sorry for my wrong response above, I was on my way to work! Yes, MT is standard on 535i/550i, so it is not shown on the options list on BYO.

Actually, you can't uncheck an automatic transmission on BYO, so MT is not left off because it's standard. It appears that they just didn't take the trouble to put it as an option to chose from.

550i

no xDrive
no 528 of any kind.

Configurator is not always right.
