Night center instrument Lights?

At night only, there is a rectangle at the bottom of my center instrument speed/tach display which is illuminated in a different shade (white), where the odo and trip odo are. It's about 2" high and 4" wide. Is this on all models or do I have an issue? Thanks

This is on all models and is completely normal. It is an active-matrix TFT display (similar to a laptop/smartphone screen). The screen content is dynamic and can change to show various functions, including navigation, etc. It is normal for it to be a little brighter due to the backlight.

On vehicles with HUD and the extended panel, the display is nearly the entire width of the instrument panel.

You can minimize it by turning down your instrument brightness - something that I so anyway to improve night vision.

I have that on mine and IMO, its pretty ugly . Wish the extended black panel was standard on all 5 series since we're already paying an arm and a leg.
