2012 528i - Issues

Just dropped off my new 2012 528i with the following issues:

-- Random -- Gear shift does not allow changing from R to D

-- Consistent over the last two days -- Passenger Restraint System Failure, Speedometer does not indicate current speed

Seems to me like a software issue, but will let everyone know when I hear back from the stealership.

Issue found with vehicle: vehicle requires a new Central Gateway Module Part has to be ordered from Germany.

At least we are driving in an X3 loaner

I forgot to add in the list of issues that the parking break was also activating.

So...did you have to drive in reverse all the way to the dealer?

Problems with new cars suck.

Whoa...you just picked this thing up a couple of weeks ago. Sorry to hear about the troubles. At least they diagnosed it quickly and should get you back on the road soon. How is the x3? I had a couple of the old model and it is the BMW I disliked the most. My favorite BMW's are M3's, x5's and 335/535. I am lukewarm on z4's and x3's, but admit I have not driven the current generation z4 or x3...they look much improved over the old models. I feel the 6/7 models cost too much for what you get.

The service manager handling our vehicle mentioned a "compensation program."

Anyone else hear about this?
