FOB survived a Wash!

After unloading the clothes washer I was terrified to discover my Z4's FOB still in the pocket of my freshly washed jeans. After drying it and removing some moisture that remained in the spare key channel, I was not expecting it to survive the ordeal. I remember reading several people reporting that these fobs are very expensive >$400 to replace and more to reprogram.

Happily, after a week it continues to work just fine! I have Comfort Access and all functions are working. BMW probably designed them to be water resistent to handle rainy and wet conditions. My washer may have contributed to the good outcome since its a high efficiency model-- the fob probably didn't get dunked into lots of water for a very long time.
