Well that was a mean thing to do to the owner of the old 6er lol. The old one looks sad. The size difference is very apparent in these pics. Most comparisons I've seen have been separate pics of the two cars, so the scale was not the same. You read that they increased the length and width by a few inches each, but it really didn't seem like a noticeable amount - but these pics really show it.

I agree... Separately, I could never really distinguish the size difference. But put them together and it is very noticeable

I didn't have a problem with the old 6er until the new one came out. Maybe I just bought into the "ooooooo it's a 6 Series" of the car, but I didn't find it offensive. Now they've set the bar pretty damn high, and it's hard to believe that the two are related. The old one although not universally beautiful like the F12/F13, it was at least distinctive.

You are aware of our bias correct?

Owners of the older model may think they have a "universally beautiful 6."

They'd be wrong but that's another story.

I agreed she looked sad cause sometimes (this being one) a model year gets an update that leaves the older model year looking like yesterday's news.

I do not doubt my bias one bit…. just as I do not doubt that I'm absolutely correct.

Well, what strikes me is that one car is eight years old, and one is brand new. After eight years, that's still a very relevant car, and even still well ahead of the other cars that are much newer. Whether it is pretty or ugly, it was that way 8 years ago and hasn't changed at all, like when you see some cars and think, "What were we thinking back then."

I always thought the side was beautiful, and I still think it is. I never minded the Bangle Butt. The S-Class copied it. The Acura RL copied it.

The front always gave me grief. I never liked the headlight set up. The '08 update helped a tiny, tiny bit, but it was always the front that troubled me. The M6 always looked like a gorilla in the front, to me. But I tell ya, that was the best car that I have ever had. I literally never went to the shop, and it had a lot of technology for the day.

BMW has done a good job at keeping their cars relevant down the road. Definitely evolutionary design changes, but you have to go back a couple generations to look at Bimmer and think it looks dated. To most of us it's probably a lot easier to think a BMW looks old, but we pretty much study the designs of these cars and can pick up on LCI changes between the years.

Took some pics today after I washed my car. It still takes me 5 minutes to force myself to walk away from it when I get out because I can't stop staring. Some of these pics with the sun setting emphasize that this car is God's gift to the world... I also needed some new screen savers for my computers and lock screen on my phone

Thanks! I just wish I could keep it looking like that for more than a day and a half. It doesn't look bad after that, but the color doesn't look quite so jewel-like.

That first pic is like a BMW commercial-quality photo. Makes me want one... oh wait.

I don't mean to sound arrogant, but that's what I was thinking lol. That pic was taken with an iPhone 4S, and I got lucky with the sunlight. Just thank the mad photo skillz I learned in intro to photography last semester - biggest waste of time lol.

Haha. That's how I feel after a few days and the pollen begins to build up. I just know a little German man is going to come hunt me down, take away my keys, and kick me in the balls for such sacrilege lol.

I mean we've beat this to a few deaths but Carbon Black is crazy difficult to keep clean.

My last Bimmer/Jet Black was nothing
as bad as this...

I loved both of my previous-gen 6ers. I just love this one even more.
