Place an order?????
Bought my first BMW 328i in February of 2010 and other than a few problems with the music gadgets I have loved it. Had to have my Satelite radio reprogramed and a new USB port installed. I guess I have definitely caught the fever. I am seriously thinking of placing an order for Z4 35i, Crimson, Black or Beige Kansas Leather, Brushed Aluminum, Premium Sound Package, Sport Package, and Premium Package. I have been back and forth for a few months on a 6 speed manual or the 7 speed auto with paddles. At this moment I am leaning towards the auto. It appears to me that this years paddles are longer and are up(right) and down(left) shifting as opposed to the short stubby paddles that work in unison. I would make sure of this and a few other things before I placed an order. I drove a 28i that had the up/down paddles and the car was wonderful, I have driven probably 4 different Z4s, including an M and I loved each one of them. Think I would go with the 35i for more HP/Torque. Would love the 35is but thats a little out of my price range. Decisions decisions.

You're correct on the paddle shifters. The DCT is an awesome tranny,if it's an automatic that you want.

In the UK market, 2012 cars with the M-Sport package and the 35is get 7XA and non M-Sport Z4s get 2XA.
7XA -- M-Sport leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles. 2XA -- Sport leather steering wheel with uni-directional gearshift paddles. 7XA has the + on the right and - on the left. I haven't seen a 2XA car with automatic but I thought it has the other type of paddles. 2XA is listed as a no charge option on the US price list. 7XA is the steering wheel to get. I've tried both with MT cars. The M-Sport wheel is option code 710 in a manual transmission car. Same wheel but no paddles. Last edited by Andrew*Debbie; 01-27-2012 at 11:11 PM. |

Met with the dealer today but was unable to agree on a price to place an order for a 35i. Dont know if its against Forum rules or in poor taste to mention dollar figures so I wont do that here. PM me for more info if it would help anybody in their own negotiations.

Try a forum sponsor. Most of them will quote you a invoice +$xxx price. We bought our X3 from Adrian Avila at BMW of South Atlanta.
Here in the UK, where everything is different, people are getting up to £8000 off of MSRP. Last edited by Andrew*Debbie; 01-25-2012 at 03:02 PM. |

Reached an agreement!
Was able to agree on a price today with Bluegrass BMW of Paducah, KY. My order has been placed for a Z4 35i, Crimson, Beige Kansas, Brushed Aluminum, Premium Pkg, Premium Sound Pkg, Sport Pkg, BMW Assist/Bluetooth/ Sat radio with 2 clutch automatic. Was told 6-8weeks. Needless to say I am excited.

Be sure to post photos when the car comes in!
6-8 weeks? Dealer must have had a production slot that was days away from start of production. We live a lot closer to Regensburg and we ordered our e89 last week. We probably won't see ours until late March. |

6-8 Weeks is about right for a car staring production within a few days of placing the order.
Our car is scheduled for assembly on week 9 and delivery on week 12. This is the end of week 4, so you will probably get your Z just before we do.

Spoke with my Client Advisor yesterday and he said my car would be finished being built on March 2. So it will definitely not make it in the "6-8 week" time frame I was given. Not a big surprise but of course Im a little dissapointed. He said the goal would be to have my car by April 1. So I am looking at a period of 9-10 weeks. I hope.
So Andrew you will probably be in your car before I am in mine. Good Luck. |

Well that's just a few days longer than 8 weeks. Not too bad. I had my ED on 2/25 and the car should be either on a ship that left yesterday or on 3/8. Shipping info on the web usually lags behind real life a little bit, so I can't tell if it's on yesterday's ship yet. It's a 2 week trip, then it stays at the finishing facility in NJ for a couple of days, then it's shipped to your dealer. The wait is killer!

March 2 was the end of week 9. Our cars may have been right next to each other on the assembly line. 3 weeks to the UK. It takes a dealer here about 5 days for the delivery check and to get number plates and a tax disk. . . . We should take delivery just a few days ahead of you. . .

There is nothing like a 6MT in a roadster.

Oh my.... you MUST consider it!
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=136 It is a terrific experience - especially if you would like BMW to pay for your hotel, meals, and a thrilling experience on their performance track near Spartanburg, SC. You get to try out driving on a polished and wet concrete pad; doing 360's (yes - 360 turns!) Jamming on the brakes in panic turns trying out the ABS, etc... and driving as fast as you can on a short slalom (can't go more than about 50 mph!); A really interesting tour of the X-3 assembly plant, an obstacle course stint in an X-5, and the most thrilling part - hot laps in an M5! Do it! My wife and I did and had a blast. ![]() (pic below is me standing next to my new e91 at the PDC delivery; April, 2011) Doug

They will have it ready for collection on the 15th, but we won't able to go get it until sometime after the 18th.

Congratulations, almost.
Ten more days, definitely sooner than I'll get mine. A long ten days but I'm sure it will be well worth it!

Congrats! Very nice looking car. Those are my favorite wheels on the Z4 but I'm glad you'll be the one cleaning them.
