So my training instructor likes to talk smack about BMWs

He drives '05 Subaru Impreza Wrx Sti. He thinks he's hot stuff and likes to poke fun at my '97 E36 M3. He was telling us about comparisons today and he said Cricket wireless is like BMW and Verizon wireless is like Subaru. So I told him okay so a message in a bottle is like Subaru and holograms are like BMW! So now him and I are going to race. Think I can take him? I have cold air intake mod, that's pretty much all I got. Think I can beat his Sti Wrx?

Depends on how and where you are racing?

240hp and ~3200lb's vs ~300hp and 3300lb's. AWD and turbo will have you beat off the line if he knows how to drive it and in the turns he sure has the advantage if he is a semi competent driver. They are two very different class cars so hard to compare. The M3 was built for luxury and the STI was built for track days, never mind the 7 years newer tech that his car has. Hard to beat a properly setup turbo/AWD car in most kind's of racing as they do have a huge advantage over the rest for your average driver.

If he knows anything about his car and how to drive it he has you beat pretty much everywhere but top speed. On a track it might be close if you know how to drive your car and he doesn't, either way I think on paper he has already won when it comes to performance.

You will not win. BMWs are all about balance. Handling/Luxury/Comfort/Speed.

Subarus have their own balance but it is significantly different from the BMW balance. An '05 STI will destroy your '97 M3 in a 0-60 drag race, but if you know how to race and he doesn't, you should be able to school him on a real track.

I tend to ignore people that behave like your trainer. If he keeps it up, put some water and sugar in his gas tank. Make sure no one sees you.

^Cut his CV boots instead. It will make him think his car is junk with rattles and bumps. sugar water would be pretty easy to figure out me thinks.

Dude, you dont stand a chance. And it all depends where your racing. Straight line? No shiit! But what if you add some curves? maybe? Unless the guy knows how to drive. Only one way to find out! Good luck man

Monoeletholene keytone. That's how to destroy someone's engine. It makes it go into turbo mode and blow up from working too fast. It will rip his serpentine and timing belt. He won't even know what happened. My fathers friend put some of that into (new at the time) '07 gmc Sierra that belong to his ex wife's new boyfriend that decided to vandalize his house while he was away. It destroyed the engine and this guy chose to rebuild the engine without doing a flush of his fuel tank and it blew up again hahahahahahah
