Mrs. mgcyr has got the BMW bug

She has me shopping for an X5d.
The dealer let me take one home last night so she could drive it. She loved it. I have to say, it was pretty great to drive around, particularly on the highway.
I guess I'll be posting in the E70 forums too now.

Go to xoutpost.com too. I was there for the three years I had the X5. Very friendly bunch of people. I may go back to the X5 after the redesign and my lease ends.

I have a 2009 X5d.
It's a great car/truck.

Since getting my 535, my wife has been enjoying the X5.

Best of all you're really going to love the fuel consumption...I usually fill up every 2 weeks

We hated our 2010 X5 with runflats especially on highways. Gets too choppy and rough at times even with 18 inch wheels. We traded it for an amazing 2012 Mercedes ML350 and thats what a good SUV feels around town and highways. X5 IMO was unrefined. The runflats ruin everything after owning the car more than 1 year.

I have the same bug...my wife and I just purchased a 2012 535i and we love it...now I want to get the X5 (///M version though) too! Lol

The Mrs. will always get what she wants ...

I'm driving one right now as a loaner, actually. Pretty loaded. It's extremely comfortable and reminds me a lot of my old V10 TDI Touareg. My favorite feature is the huge panoramic moonroof. Tons of natural light in the car. The premium sound (with similar settings to my 550) doesn't sound as good, but that's a minor issue. I think my only real complaint is the E9X buttons in the center stack. They're not as convenient for me as they are in the F10.

Another great feature I like is in the iDrive settings menu. Under Climate, a digital version of the red/blue temperature knob is available and it also shows you the current air distribution. There's even a Tailgate option that lets you adjust the tailgate opening height so you don't hit an obstacle overhead. Typical BMW and very clever.

Driving in this has me thinking about it for my next car. The engine is a little noisier, but still has plenty of power and pick up. It's been great in DC traffic.

The pamoramic sunroof is what closed the deal for my wife. My dealer is trying to find one equipped the way we want right now. If he can't find it, we'll order it from teh factory. You'll be pleased to know that we are going with Alpine white. This way I have both in my driveway, Alpine white and Titanium silver!!!

Cool, I hope you two find one already here...I ordered from the factory and the wait was painful! But worth it...

I assume you're talking about your 535. Same here for my 550, I ordered beginning of January and got it 2 weeks ago. Do you think you'll get the X5M? My wife just loves the idea of a diesel. I'd be okay with the gas version, but her heart is set on the 35d.

I sort of don't want to give this back. Maybe I'll do the inverse, and end up with a TiAg X5d and AW 550.

Sorry, yes, in reference to my 535...

No, it's more of a want than a need for now, but I definitely plan on it in the future. I was really tempted before we bought the 535, but I know my wife really liked the idea of a
sedan with descent MPG. It would be a great competition for my supercharged SS though!

My CA said he'd hook me up with one this since it's a loaner. It is TiAg actually, and in great shape. They reserve the nicer loaners for the more spendy customers. LOL.

Yep. They are always trying to entice me. Last loaner was a loaded F30 335i Sport Line. Before that X6 M. Before that 750i. Etc., etc.

You have a great dealer. Our loaners for service are typically 328's.
