Powdercoated wheels

Has anyone here powdercoated their stock wheels? I've done so on other wheels, but if anyone here has experience with our wheels, any issues?

I have not! But I nominate u to do them immediately and take some.pics.
black wheels on white cars always look killer! Plus u have a harley. You can pulll it off

My BMW Service Center actually does this (I'm sure they send them out) but if there was a problem, not sure they would allow it.

I lease and they gave me the green light. As soon as I take delivery, it's going right to service for the wheels to be powder coated.

My wheels will be style 373M. The 20" 650i M-Sport wheels.

Cool, how much does the dealer charge? The place I go to is $75/wheel for my 19" M sport wheels.

For the 373M wheel, they charge $200/wheel (any 20" will be $200 from what I gathered). I would love to shop around but I have the wheel and tire insurance through BMW. I believe they charge $150 for 18" so my guess would be $175 for a 19".

I don't want the headache of them telling me they can't do anything because I powder coated my wheels elsewhere if I need a new wheel through insurance. I heard from a few sources that between $175 and $200/wheel is a normal price for 20".

$75/wheel is a steal. Just make sure they do quality work. I had my sport bike wheels, rear sets and levers powder coated at a good price and found a bunch of pitting and chipping months later when I went to go wash it. Just a cautionary heads-up.

Thanks...yeah, I confirmed with the dealer that powdercoating will have no effect on the wheel/tire warranty. The only difference is that if the wheel needs to be replaced, I'll get an original wheel without powdercoat so no biggie.

This place I'm going to has done other wheels for me before and it's quality work so I trust them. I'll post pics when they're done!

Would you kindly explain what is wheel powdercoating?

In no exact or professional terms, basically the wheel is coated with any color of this powder which is then baked in an oven at an extremely high temperature. This gives the wheel a coat similar to the appearance of paint in either gloss or matte finish; but much stronger and durable. Many car parts are done this way in lieu of painting for extra durability purposes.

You pay for quality. Don't regret anything.

Any good shop in SoCal?

I'm in FL. But who ever does it for you make sure they sound so meticulous about the process that you know they are doing it right.

My car is officially in the shop on a lift while her wheels are being removed for powdercoating! I'll post pics as soon as I pick her up...hopefully early next week!
