Driving to Bimmerfest 2012 in Pasadena, CA...

I'm driving my 535 to the show on May 19th (I'll be there the day before) and I'm sure highway 5 will batter my car with all kinds of bugs and debris. After this voyage it'll definitely need a thorough wash/detail for the show. What would you guys recommend? Take it through a random carwash in socal? I'm a little skeptical of that since I usually do my own wash/detail. I plan on getting the clear 3M bra thrown on before as well. Any advice or knowledge of good detailers in that area would be appreciated. Thanks!

Bimmerfest CA sounds like fun !! I assume there is one available on the east coast. Also I remember seeing a BMW racing track in the Carolinas. I would like to take my 535i all out but limited here in Long Island / NY area - too much traffic.

Any recommendations for east coast BMW fast fun !

Yeah, should be a good time...my first bimmer and my first Bimmerfest! I heard there's an east coast version like you mentioned...

I'm just nervous about the mess that'll be on my car by the time I make it to socal! : /

There is a Bimmerfest on both coast every year. You should not have to much of a problem finding a full service car wash down in Pasadena. It is a great time with a lot of great looking BMW's. Took the 550 down last year, think I will go topless this year with the M.

Yeah, just worried about those carwash brushes on my new paint

We have some full service that they hand wash iit and don't use the automatic machines. Check on line and then give them a call and ask what method they use to wash them. I fear the brushes less than their drying towels. I watch closely to ensure if it hits the ground, it does not touch my car again.

Cool, thanks man...I'll search around. And good point about the drying towels! I'm very meticulous at home about letting my microfiber towels go ANYWHERE near the ground...

A man after my own heart. Call this place and see what they do and what they offer. I have never been there as I would never let another human wash my car, but it seems to get some decent reviews from Yelp and it's close to the rose bowl...

Seriously, thanks for that link, it was very informative. Frank's appears to have several good reviews (although only 18 of them). I think it's worth a shot...this will be the only exception where someone else other than myself will wash my car. Again, thanks and good looking out! Are you going to the show too?

The chances of u seeing any of my vehicles go through a car wash is ...... slim to none!
Never gonna happen.
Ur cars wheels most likely will get scratches on the rails that bring the car through.
Water marks because they use dirty towels and water drips because most places don't blow the water out.

U can always pay a couple of bucks more and have them hand wash on the side no brushes on the wheels, tell them just to use a soft sponge .
Maybe I'll meet u guys down there even though it seems like a whole to do.
