Help with Headrest Height Adjustment
Hello Everyone,
I just took delivery of a 2012 528i today. The car is easy to handle and is very comfortable. However, I am unable to adjust the headrest height on the front passenger seats. There is big square button which I tried to push, but it does not seem to lower the headrest. Can anyone please help? Tks. Dave

Not trying to be a smart ass, but the manual should explain this adjustment, no? Try checking that or playing with the button by pushing/twisting/turning it in different directions; without breaking it of course!
I've seen some headrests where you need to indent a button AND apply pressure/pulling on the headrest itself in order for it to adjust.

The big square button is for moving the headrest towards and away from your head in the horizontal plane.
To move it up and down, you squeeze the button on the round bit where the headrest fits into the seat. |

Yes, I read the user manual PDF downloaded from the website. The big square button is to move the headrest closer to you. There should be a small push button on the round thing. But I dont see it. The car seems to have a big plastic piece with two metal bar coming off...not the round plastic cover shown on the user manual. How Do I post a picture on the forum? Newbie here...Tks. Dave

The height adjustment is electronic. I can't remember which switch on the base of the seat does the adjustment, but push up on a couple. I remember having the same question which my 2011 528i and the manual is very generic. Many of the non-US models have a manual adjustment and these are described in the manual, but it wasn't real clear to me either until I just started playing with the adjustments.

The headrest height adjustment is electronic. Use the button on the right of the seat that moves the seat back forward and backward...the same button also moves up and down to adjust the headrest.

Push up or down on the power seat recliner control to raise or lower the headrests. Where are all these other incorrect answers coming from? There is no control directly on the headrest itself to move it up or down. Same whether it's the standard seats or multi-contour (shown in the attachment).

Yes, I called the dealer today. Yes, it is not what is described on the user manual as a notch to push. It is purely "Electric" I am very surprised that 528i comes with such feature for the headrest. Used to have a E90, never got used to the Luxury of the 5...haha.. Thanks guys...You guys Rock!!!! Dave
