This always happens... Plus A Ride in an S8
As soon as I get a new car (or move into a new house) I get a call: "hay, taters, we need you to to travel out to (some city far away, overseas etc.) and handle something for a few weeks."
So anyway, picked up the car about a month ago.... drove it last night for the first time in two and a half weeks. 350 miles on the odo. Couldn't quite remember how to work all the gizmos. On the other hand... it was like picking it up for the first time. I had it cruising along some nice twistys.... 70 mph in a 35 zone.... this is when I really notice the ARS. The car doesn't lean - at all. While I was out of town I had a chance to ride a few times in a buddy's 2009 Audi S8 - the one with the Lambo V10 @ 450HP. Cost $116K brand new (yes he has the B&O stereo). great car... It looks about the same size as the F10 - maybe a little longer but lower - great seats, but cabin feels smaller and noticeably older - the electronics look ancient. The F10 seems noticably quicker at the low end, couldn't tell much difference when we punched it at highway speeds - although the S8 sounded WAY better. His non-RFTs were every bit as noisy as my Dunlops (which aren't really that noisy). The B&O sounded... awesome when we listened to the Black Keys - not much different when we listed to ESPN radio. Good times... Can't wait to get a look at his 2013 S8 later this year. |
