Is this something commonly done? Are there performance gains to it as opposed to aftermarket or is it purely for a different sound?

I know two people that did it. They told me that m6 muffler fit very well, no droning, the sound changes a little bit. So, not too loud. And it is cheaper that any aftermarket exhaust. I do not think that there is performance gain and i dont need it. I just want a quad look and a little vruuum

I really want to go Quad with the stock mufflers, the 550 diffuser, and with the attached Cyba's Double Layer Black Chrome Quad Tips, but apparently the F10 535i has very little space between the stock muffler outlet and the rear bumper, and even the short 8" Cyba tips, hacked down to 7" after cutting an inch off their inlet side, stick out past the bumper a little bit farther than the stock setup. So now I am thinking about just going with the M6 Mufflers alone, or even possibly using them with different tips, like 4 black chrome ones if I can find them and they will fit. So please do it and post pics!

Damn, seems like so much trouble...might as well go aftermarket for the look, sound and performance all in one.

True, but also a lot more coin, and for some, they have no desire to alter the sound or eke out any HP gains, rather they just want the Quad look on an otherwise stock car, so dropping $4k plus on an Eisenmann or Meisterschaft exhaust system wouldn't be worth it.

They are supposed to have one coming out this summer; however, if its anything like their 535i tune promises, it will likely be the summer of 2013 before it makes it to market. Whenever it arrives, it should be at least $700 less, since it won't need / include the Vacuum Valves like the 550i version. For under $2k, all I have seen is the Remus SPORT exhaust system, which also is an Axel-back only system, and runs about $1.8k.
