I have a 92 E32 735i.
I did my valve adjustment becuase I did not know the last time they were done and it seemed loud to me, but now they are louder than ever and its worrying me!!
Heres a vid of What it sounds like
I researched as much as possible and did it by the bentley book.
It said to do .30 mm on the feeler gauge so I did and tightened them. it was loud and need to be readjusted, by the time I adjusted it the 4th time I had made sure it was adjust tight on the feeler gauge to where it had plenty resistance but was still able to move the gauge and slip it in and out. It seems like no matter what I do it will not get quieter.
I dont know if it makes a difference but the feeler gauge I have says .030mm and bentley calls for .30, is it the same thing?
I read that it gets louder after adjusting, is this true?
Also when I last started it up the gas pedal was hesitant and seemed to lag when reving, almost like a miss but Ihave already changed the sparkplugs rotar and distrib cap, but after starting again it was fine, but still loud of course.
Would it be safe to drive like this? I need to have it smogged by a friend and possibly have them readjust the valves but they are about 30 miles away.
I am frustrated and dont know what else to do..
Can someone, anyone help me???
