1999 M3 Convertible top
Bought few weeks back. PO showed me how to work top worked great. Tryed to raise top yesterday and nothing happens.( top is up and in locked position). It seems for for some reason that the emergency handle must have been pulled, the reason I say this is both motors in trunk have been disengaged. I engaged both motors fully and still do not get anything to happen. Light still blinking. All fuses are good at least the three I can find. What is next step I can take. Do I need to take allen wrench to unlock at front windshield and manually lower roof to be able to do the resyncing of top. I do not understand what or why caused the motors to be disengaged. Any help will be appreaciated .I am still reading all threads but none seem to be like my situation. I can not get any motors to run with switch. How do I manually lower top?

I had a similar problem. Nothing worked that was already known. In the end I took it to an upholstery and they said I should take it to BMW so they can scan it and find out what's wrong with it.
Try all the guides and look at the manual for the convertible top. If it's not resyncing then it might be the switch (if you're lucky) or something more expensive ![]() But maybe you'll be luckier. Best of luck

If you want the top to operate correctly I suggest you use the Allen wrench to open the top to the stops then fold the top into the tonneau cover and engage the motors (rear) and then try to re-sync the top.
To see the video of how this works just do a search for Zach's (Millertime325) and you should have some success. No idea why your motors were disengaged... http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=718030 Last edited by fun2drive; 04-06-2012 at 09:12 PM. |
