New feature found!

I decided to look to make sure I had the speakers under the seats. (I did). But while I was down there I noticed that there are knee air bags on both sides (most people probably know this). I also found a unswitched cigar lighter power supply UNDER the glove box on the left side of the footwell. I tested it and it works.
I don't remember reading anything about that one!

Yes, but I just found it on page 143 in the manual. I must have skipped that part.
It looks like a standard feature.

The knee airbags are a standard feature, however BMW hasn't advertised it much. The power port has been there since 2009.

Does the power supply under the glove compartment have a cap as the one at the center console and the one at the back?

No.

Regarding the passenger knee airbag, is it normal that you can see some of the airbag mechanism behind the panel? I can't tell if mine is poorly fitted or if it is normal, but when you get under there, or look from the back left passenger seat, you can see some of the airbag through a gap in the trim piece which covers it.

The power port under the glove box is switched. I don't exactly understand when it gets power as I seems to get varied results but it is not on all the time.

Ho hum. That was there in the later E90s, too. Although they're switched rather than always on.

my 2009 e90 has this power port, what's new about it?

Some cars have it and some don't?
