It fell from heaven to hell

This has officially become the car from hell. Everything that could go wrong has began to go wrong. When i originally got my 7 it was great. I checked it for all issues that people talked about from the forum. A month in to owning and then it goes down hill from there. Other then it being due for new brakes an oil change and spark plugs it was fine.

Now,
1. I get a ticking noise from the engine around 2500+ RPM's, followed by a plume of white smoke, then the drive moderately light comes up. I dont think valve seals would cause this problem, beats me?

2. My dynamic drive is inactive

3. I got the harsh shift in 1st gear Guibo problem.

4. The coolant pipe is leaking, planned on getting the all german pipe for the fix.

5. Now my valve cover gasket needs replaced. Got an oil leak. Looks like a quart every two weeks. Im assuming its the valve cover gasket. -__-

Can anybody shine some light on these problems for me, mainly the drive moderately problem. I was prepared for repairs but not of this magnitude. I really love the car, but i think it might be time to let her go, take my losses and get the Audi A8L.

Very sorry and sad to hear your story. Your right to stop there. It could actually get worse. I looks like when you are trying saving your dogs live. But, you cant it time for him to go. Be strong a just move on. There be more favorite pets in your live. Hope that makes you feel better.

I really dont like the Lexus as much as the Audi or Mercedes. Plus my bestfriend has a Lexus and swears up and down its the God Particle lol, we like to talk $h1t lol

Yea i learned that lesson to late lol, i asked the service guy at the dealer about it and he said "2002-2004 7's were the worst bmw ever built". He proceeded to tell me to get rid of it as fast as possible. Im thinking about getting an '05. It looks like thats the year they changed everything.

dont get a 745 at all. The 750 is better built car with less problems, But problems too btw.

I initially wanted an Audi A8L, but fell in love with the 7 series 760, so much power. Is it pretty much anything built before 05' thats not worth buying. I havent heard anything about the 04's. And i rarely see them either.

I had a late build 04 745, that was pretty good, now i have a late build 06.so far has been good. both have had there issues but both were covered under a bmw warrty.

Was the 04' build different the 02-03's. There is a gorgeous 04' im looking at, same color and everything. Whats the worst thing you've had happen to them?

I just finished installed all german pipe for a friend on his 04 745Li.
took me about 8 hours ...No more leak

I love my 02 with 130k, but then again I had no problems yet.

Im not sure why the service advisor said the 05 is better then the 02-04 these cars are luck of draw the only thing people forget when they buy a bmw over 100 k miles expect repairs all cars will need it. The e65 all years has known issues and all mercedes and audi for that matter.

Logic 7 ask unit
Water pump
Tensioners etc
Abs unit
Tranny repair

Why are you complaining???
You've had coolant pipe leak for long time that's why you were running hot which caused valve stem caps went bad.
I'm sorry but what did you expect??

Don't worry 06 models are not that old yet, everything almost the same:
Valve stem caps and coolant pipe are the same parts, same tranny, same logic7, same abs unit, same suspension.
A little better but the worst problems are still the same
Ppl are strange calling 02 model the worst it's just 10yrs old already wake up

He said they redesigned some things with the car, what idk, i guess thats where the 750 came from. I would expect a bmw to last longer before these type of issues would happen. My parents gave owned quite a few
Audi's, havent had any serious problems yet. As for benz i couldnt say. I've owned a few cars and this one has had the most issues. Gorgeous but becoming a pit.

Im going to fix the coolant leak, valve cover, and tranny then i think im done. I originally wanted an A8, love my dads and it was a nice upgrade from my old A6.

REALLY?? Just go to either of their forums and behold yourself the host of issues these cars (Audi, MB, etc) have. It's not unique to BMW.

i love how people say they have 02's with over 100k and no problems.. what they dont tell you is that they bought the car 2 mos ago with over 100k. Most of these cars including both of my own e65's have a mile long list of things that have been fixed while under the orig 4 yr wrrty. The 02-03 were the most problmatic because the technology was new. many of the 02-03 are actually lemon buy backs. by 04 they fixed alot of the electrical gremlins,05 was the last production yr of the 745 and u would hope the best, not only will the dealer tell you to not buy a 745 so will many Indy's. the 750 has alot of electrical upgrades everywhere, all the components are newer and hopefully more reliable.

I think your misunderstanding what i said. My mother and father have had a few Audi's and none of theres have given them any problems. I watched BMW driving obsession and they even said themselves that audi and MB have less issues.

Just messing with ya. I LOVE the A8, but I also realize that dependability goes out the window with German cars, so I'll stick with the devil I know.

Might be "normal", but it don't make it less painful. I could have bought a Lexus LS460 for a fraction of the cost of new as well and had a lot less problems.
