2000 e38 engine troubles

I need some assistance. started out by the thermostat failing . we replaced the thermostat. now the car remains in engine fail safe and trans fail safe mode. the car will start and run rough real rough. was told by bmw the dme could be fried said they have seen the thermostat fry the dme . removed the dme no signs of damage looks like new . getting 2 codes p1637 and p0010. replaced throttle body same codes come up and no difference in engine running still. also replaced the battery. any ideas... i also read a post about where i could get a replacement dme they recommended 3 places. icant find the thread so if someone can let me know it would help greatly thanks in advance..
