Reverse Light Out.. LED Taillights Fix

Had error code for a light out since I purchased my used 07 328.. found out it is the back right reverse light.

Just had the car checked out and the mechanic did not know how to replace, or fix bulb (cause there isnt one) for the LED taillights. I have the smoked out aftermarket tailights, not sure of the brand though.

So... do I have to buy a whole new set of taillights? I am not familiar with how the LED lights differ from others. I just need to replace the reverse light.

The reverse light is a regular incandescent bulb. You'll need to take the trunk lid liner loose. Then there's a housing that holds the bulb. That housing snaps out and you have access to the bulb.

There are aftermarket LED reverse lights that plug right into the OEM tail light assembly which should be the same as your smoked one. Make sure it has a built in resister or else you'll get an error "reverse light out" with the standard LED. If that happens and the light is working it's easy to install a 6 ohm resistor across the connection.
