We have a 70mph limit in the UK. Most I would ever do is 80mph if I was in a particular hurry. I value my license too much. Imagine having my Beemer on the drive and not being able to drive it. Torture.

But its not a nascar road people!!!!!
The autobahn has a few unlimited sections left, indicated by a circle with a line through it. There you can go as fast as your car can go.

You may have lived there for 6 years, but you don't seem to understand the laws. A lot of the autobahn has speed limits, but there are plenty of unlimited sections too, as indicated by the sign:

. On the unlimited sections, the recommended speed is 130kph, but that just means if you're in an accident while going faster, you assume some additional liability. Of course, if you're in an accident at 150mph, legal liability might be the least of your worries.

Read through all 6 pages before I could comment. Have to agree about the differences between Germany and the US and the roads, speeds, driver quality, etc. In my many trips to Germany I have never felt uncomfortable driving above 100 mph (got up to 130 for a decent stretch). I actually get scared approaching 100 mph here (road and driver quality). Having said that, I have been driven by many "locals" in Germany and all but one were very good drivers, obeyed traffic signs and never put their or their passenger's safety in jeopardy. Funny though, the one crazy guy was driving a BMW!!! I hope he is still alive. My 2cents.
