BMW service
Well I got my car back from the dealer today! I was late so they were closing so I just drove off, when I got home this is what I found. I cannot believe this level of incompetence, someone knows they have damaged the wheel but nothing has been said, now I will have a big argument tomorrow morning when I am certain they will deny liability. I live some 2.5 miles from the dealership.......

They have had the car for two days and I wish I had been more thorough looking when I picked it up, I think I can pretty much prove they are responsible but in this day and age where integrity is not at the top of the agenda I know it will be a fight, it is the offside front and my mileage shows how little I have done, but I can't express how angry I am.......

No reason to be upset just yet ... maybe they won't deny anything, or they didn't notice themselves. Just stay calm when you talk to them.

Whenever I take my Z4 to the the BMW service dept. I go over the entire car with the Service Manager, and we note that there are no scratched or dents on the body or on the wheels. Then we sign off on that.
That way if the car ever has damage when I pick it up, we know they did it. |

2 things in your favor.
1) The curb rash is fresh. 2) They had it for 2 days and you drove it 5 miles (to/from the dealership) You may want to point out the fresh shavings on the wheel and get them to commit to the fact the curb rash occured very recently. Then emphasize that the odds they damaged the wheel are very high, since they had it 2 days and you only drove it 5 miles. Also stress that no other wheel has curb rash because YOU KNOW how to drive the car since you own it and drive it every day. Stress that the service techs drive a dozen different cars every day and would have a hard time judging curbs in every car. |

Well here is an update!
http://s1.bimmerfest.com/forums/imag.../thumb.gifPlus 1 to the dealer, they looked at the car this morning and accepted that they had damaged the wheel. they had no idea who did the deed, but in one sense that matters nothing to me. The will be fixing it next Wednesday so fingers crossed. What annoys me is that someone knew they had done it and failed to accept the responsibility. The manager advised me that they have a no fault policy so if things happen people should not be afraid to come forward....... So for now BMW dealerships are showing themselves to be professional towards their customers. I explained to the dealer that I have a significant investment in their brand so it is my interest that they equate themselves well.

Further update and all credit to my dealer they replaced the wheel. I insisted as they wanted to refurbish and I felt that this was unsatisfactory on such a new car, as paint refurbs don't last long compared to powder coating....
