E39 True Love
Yes, we love them, admire them, preach them and live them.
But how many of you have been through the alpha and omega - beginning and end and even then continuing? Who here had anything numerically minus the chassis code 39 and loved it to the point of eventually owning one - brand new and continuing to this day. everything about everything has been covered on the E39 in not only this forum but roadfly and others and its a sad feeling to see the topics these days on stuff 7 years old where you no longer feel enthused about responding but at the same time eager to help a potentially successful 'I married an e39' in my life type. It's not about refreshing every few years, not about the F10, certainly not about the E60 but about a deep passion for this car. remember that new leather, that amazing design, that feeling, not caring about the money you just spent, the looks you got and the exciting topics on boards from fellow owners. anyone left?

Driving my e39 is cathartic and I love every time I have to drive and even look forward to long distance drive, because that means I will spend more time with it.
Also I like doing maintenance on it because it feels familiar. My e34 was great in the city but on the highway and in the city my e39 rocks! Do ya'll every drive just for the sheer pleasure in the car because they are so awesome? |

I feel the same way as the first time I drove it. It's pure pleasure to drive. I do want to upgrade a few items on the car but it drives perfect the way it is.

That bread only rises once. If you want that "new and exciting uncharted territory" feeling again, I think you need to buy another new car (and again be in the Wild Wild West) I bought an E39 this winter, b/c it was so well documented. So yea, this means more searching of archives rather than treading new ground. You sound like a treading new ground kind of guy who misses the new-ness of learning about your car. |

I adore my E39. I have had it for a year now. I think I'm more excited to drive it now then I was when I got it. I took it to my mechanic for its annual inspection last week. He was sad to say it needed an upper control arm and three brake hoses. I was bummed it didn't pass but enjoyed the crap out of doing that today. I feel so lucky that I have my car and for that matter this forum to fix it when needed. I am so impressed at how cleverly it was built and how easy it is to work on. I could go on...
