1999 740 il engine replacement.

Hi I have owned my 7 for about 3 years now and unfortunatley the timeing guid has broken inside the engine.... So instead of fixing it I have decided to rplace the vanos engine with a 1998 4.4 non vanos. My question to any one who has done this procedure is , will I be able to use the intake from the vanos with the electronic throtle and do i have to change the computers...I did get them from the 98 anyhow...

Not an expert on this, but I just replaced my non-VANOS with another non-VANOS. Although the M62 and M62TU engines are the same core engines, the emission system and timing are significant differences. Replacing the DME is the first step, but you may also have other electrical issues. Additionally, the VANOS has a secondary air pump at the front end. I would talk to a good indy to make sure you have your bases covered.
