Chopping off my muffler

- it's greasy and ricerey but my muffler is rotten and really just an under car ornament now. Will there be any adverse effects towards the engine if I simply remove it, and strap on some extra taile pipe to the exhaust pipe for now until I can get it into a muffler shop $$$?

The exhaust pipe broke off of the muffler right where the two connect and now it is hanging somewhat since the exhaust pipe hanger or mount itself has broken midway underneath the car. My idea is to reclamp the pipe to the frame with some ss pipe hanger strap which will bring it even with the useless muffler, thus my question about chopping the muffler and extending the pipe.

Thanks, hope that makes sense... and it's for a 325e

performance, slim to none. just more noise out the back. kinda like fajita night.
I know a lot about cars. I can look at a car's headlights and tell you exactly which way it's coming
