I have tried a few times to likn my blackberry to my 2001 X5. I can't even get as far as to get my phone to ask for a pass code. Is it possible that even though all of the controls for bluetooth are there on my steering wheel that my model is not equiped with bluetooth?

Yes, this is possible. You can check by performing the procedure in the first reply. All you need is a screwdriver. Look for the Bluetooth module in the rear.

I looked in the truck and drivers side, but what do you mean about black plastic floor/cargo panel. I am new to this and just received my first BMW so still figuring things out. Please help!

There are pics of this piece and it's location in the SECOND reply in this thread...go back to the beginning of the thread as not to miss what has already be suggested.

BTW...this is an e53 X5 forum...if this is not the type of BMW you own...all of the responses may not apply to your application.

Below is a BMW Bluetooth availability chart:

Im having a similar problem: no sticker on the Bluetooth module. Did you finally pair your phone with the car? can I scan for the code myself with one of those scanners at autozone?

How do I locate my Bluetooth Passkey?

I just typed in "1234" and it paired.

NO...an OBD II scanner is limited to the federal mandate for all car manufactures to have a standard for electronic engine emissions...and BT connectivity has nothing to do with emissions or air pollution.

The dealer can get the BT PK through their diagnostic software if the sticker is gone.

FWIW, I've been trying to pair our phones to our X5 (had the vehicle for 2 weeks now). The phone and vehicle would recognize each other but would not pair. It would say "Sorry, PIN or passkey is incorrect." I must have tried 50 different times over the first 3-4 days we had the vehicle with three different phones. Finally gave up. Dealer confirmed my PK (same as on the side of the BT unit) when it was in for an oil chance through a scan and said it might just need to be replaced (for $750). I randomly tried pairing again today and voila, it paired.
