Night Vision

Anyone on here have this option?

I kinda like it, but it's driving me crazy that it doesn't show up on the screen in full screen. It uses only about 3/4 of the screen.

Just want to see if anyone figured out a way to get it in full screen or if my interface was programmed wrong or something. It's a very narrow camera angle on mine.

I had it on my last 7er and swore I'd never waste money on that nonsense again. For me, until it displays as part of HUD or even in the center stack, it's not really useable.

[You ordered Night Vision and not B&O?!]

Night Vision, like active seats, qualify as a cool feature that is great in theory and when showing off what the car can do, but, for my purposes, the utility is very limited. The tech geek in me loves the "toy," but Mr. Reality had to pee all over my fun and draw the line.

Actually... they can't put it on the HUD. You wouldnt see anything because you need the difference in thermal output. Road markings would disappear making it useless and hinder road visibility. On an aircraft though, it's different. It's real only use is for detecting pedestrians and animals. I hit a deer several years back that I didn't see. I bet this system would've avoided that, now that I think about it.

Yes I did not get B&O for a few reasons. Redundancy. The premium sound is perfectly fine and clear for my application. I don't blast my music anymore. The price for it. $3700 on top of the cost for Premium Sound? That's nuts. I'd rather have the extra tech toy than a sound system that I will never use to its full potential.

I don't have that option (although I would love to have it since I saw yours). If while on the display, I assume that you can't go to options on the iControl and chose full screen like you can with videos, right? I assume not, but worth a try.

I feel bad for the poor souls looking to buy one of these cars now. If I had everyone raving about the need for all of these little toys when I was building, then I'm pretty sure I'd be even more incapable of controlling my spending. Glad I got my order in before the days of Thom and his B&O, XZLR8 and his shadowline, and Itinj with his night vision and dynamic cruise. Combine this with my new love of the Individual Citrin Black/Opal, and I'm pretty sure I'd have a $120k car... that would be so good but so bad

Tried that already... Thanks though, Thom.

I just don't see the reason why they wouldn't make it in full screen

When I had it in the 7er, it wasn't full screen, either.

Lol... I just was inquiring about full screen for the Night Vision, but I understand what you're saying.

Anyways, back to the derail. I would love to have B&O. But being the most expensive option and the fact that I think Premium Sound is pretty damn good as it is, I think I would rather use the 3700 for a Stage 2 (less 200 bux).

Shadowline is just a couple hundred bucks, though, so clearly I am the most reasonable one here. I mean, clearly.

What can I say? I am a brand whore - drive my BMW wearing head-to-toe Brooks Brothers with my North Face backpack containing my MacBook Pro in the trunk, my two iPhones in the car, and a SBUX in the cupholder. The B&O has a synergistic effect on me when combined with BMW. Not sure how this happened, but it did, and that is probably the root of my regret... and the fact that I don't like other people to have things that I don't. Like I said above, I'm glad I had my order in before too many people were singing the praises of these options I can manage without - your sympathy is appreciated I'm such a snot sometimes lol.

You forgot "relatively speaking." Reasonable and 650i just don't seem to go together. lol

I was reasonable when I was 16 and drove a Chevy Blazer (about $7,000)... yes, my headlights and M Sport alone cost more than that car, but I had to grow up

VERY useful feature, on a rainy night, u can't even see the lines, let alone a person dressed in black, many times I didn't realize I'd almost killed someone until I drove pass them, the money on this feature would save you from big lawsuits and millions of dollars depending the type of person you run over

on a S class, they switch off the speedometer and change it to night vision, but that is a much smaller screen than the night vision on BMW, not even GS uses the full screen for this feature, they need the extra icons on the side for extra infos, and when the system does detect a person or an object, it does warn you and show up on your HUD tho, so that's more than enough

Do you have it?

I love how anything with a heat signature glows and people come up bright yellow as part of the pedestrian warning so unless the person is already dead, they're giving off heat and are gonna show up. I just really wish that it came in full screen and you can just tap the idrive controller to the left to get the icons like on Sat radio.

The camera angle is too narrow as of it doesnt pick up anything in the periphery.

I agree 100% with Southern, deciding on the options for this car is driving me crazy. Which will I not be able to live without and regret not buying vs extraneous options that will see little use. I agree the premium sound is enough - already a $1800 option on a $83K car. Wish I could get blind spot/lane guidance without the self parking & camera crap. $3700 bucks- no way. Can;t justify the night vision - hey I'm going to pay $2900 for super LED headlights, hope I can see just fine. Hyundai -no way, but some days I think why not a nice midlevel Lexus or Infiniti G37? (330 Hp ain't bad) Good thing the wife likes the 6er...............

Yeah I do have the feature, and I think so should everyone else buying a car at this price point, I can't think of any options not to get on 650i, they are all important, and I think when people are REALLY buying a car like, should have their minds and wallets prepared... lol

the new night vision on Lexus GS gives you night vision and other controls on the side like how you would want it, which is very cool, BMW should learn something from it

M Sport is a personal decision, but it was a must for me.

Cold Weather Package is a must because you can imagine the embarassment when people ask how you turn on the heated seats and you say that the car doesn't have them. Same goes for Premium Sound. Imagine the embarassment when you have to reach into your console to change tracks on your iPod because you don't have iPod connectivity without it. The standard sound, I hear, is pretty crappy, so you won't want to turn it on when people are in the car... in which case you must get M Sport so listening to the exhaust can be the excuse for keeping the stereo off.

Aesthetic musts are full LEDs, leather dash, and ceramic controls. Without these I would not pay the 6er premium.

HUD as a stand alone option is also a must have in my book... but looking back now, I'd probably get the DAP for the top view camera system as side visibility is really hard without this. However, I the HUD alone is a great value (or at least more economical - for lack of a better word ) at $1300.

Have not heard standard sound is lousy. This in itself is a outrage in a $83,000 car along with no Ipod connection Though it was the same basic 16 speaker setup in the coupe. Love the M package (except for loss of illuminated door sills) but no go for me as I want Vermillion red. Dealer has agreed to swap out the rims to the 20" 373m. He's going to credit me the cost of the stock 19"'s

I was sad to see that in the M6 you can't get cruise control assist. That is the only option that I wish I had, and looked forward to having it in the M6. I guess it is because I have never had it, but I just don't see myself using night vision because where I live, downtown lights are always on and you barely need lights at night. I have only had my car in the rain for less than a half hour.

I couldn't not have the camera package now. Driving my other cars I feel blind after the 6. By far, the camera package is the most "necessary" to me. I could do without the "shaking my steering wheel options" as I never remember why it is shaking, (basically keep your a** in one lane) but the parking assistant is amazing. I love that feature.

The comfort seats are not great to me. The cold air barely comes out. In my Navigator and in the Porsche, you freeze your butt off. So if I was looking to chop off options, comfort seats, ceramic controls, and ARS have saved me $4,000.
M Sport, IAS, Camera, B&O, and contrast stitching are stand outs to me.
