Is anybody like me still getting a 2012 X3 now?

Is it worth waiting for getting a 2013 instead of 2012?

i just picked my 2012 up monday

You wont have to wait long. The build date for my 2013 is first week of April. It depends on what you're looking for. The 4 cylinder turbo works for me. Better mpg and similar hp/torque. I test drove the 2012 and the 6 was sweeet. Can't go wrong either way imo.

I'd get the 2012, I can't imagine people who buy "the BMW of SUVs" would want the Auto Start Stop function. My wife already complains about the throttle delay on tip in, I can't imagine it getting better with the engine off.

Yes you can turn it off, but that's one more button press every time you get in the car. Just my $.02

The price is going up on the 2013s as they are adding things that are options on the 2012 as standard on the 2013.

hmm, at least with the start/stop feature there would be a reason for the throttle tip-in delay.

I already have a 2012 X3 28i. But if I were thinking about a 2012 28i vs. 2013 28i I'm thinking the cost of ownership will be $2,200 less with the 2013 X3 over the first 3 years (all else constant).

Assuming 36,000 mile lease or ownership over 3 years and 23 mpg avg on the 2012 (what I've got so far) vs. 30 mpg avg on the 2013 (same math for wtd average), that's a difference of 365 gal of gas. Assume an avg. of 6$/gal over the next 3 years (too high? too low? - anyway it's an assumption) is $2,200. At 8$ it's $3,000 difference.

Might want to reconsider that math....

In a shocking turn of events, the 328i with 8 speed automatic had its highly touted EPA fuel economy numbers squashed. BMW had been using 36 mpg as their official EPA number, better than the now defunct 335d. But when the EPA recently tested a 328i with the ZF 8 speed they were awarded with a measly 33 mpg, the same number BMW is placing on Monronies for the much more powerful six-cylinder 335i.

I tried to order a 2012 last week but all the orders are allocated. The 2013 production starts April 15 so I have an order in for a 2013.

Same here. I didnt want to wait so i got one already on the lot.

Went for the 2012 and even had one shipped from another dealer. I just didn't want the four banger although it has gotten good reviews. In four or five years turbo fours will be the base model of many manufacturers.

I like the engine ok, the auto shut off is rather annoying though. I disable it most of the time. I can't imagine it can be good for the car turning on and off so many times- there is even a caveat in the manual that says some parts may wear out sooner because of the auto shut off.

What's the EPA listed mpg for the N20 X3? The dealer I went to did not have any on the lot, but the salesperson said the numbers would be the same as the new 328i. Hard to believe though.

Just picked up my 2012 35i last week :thumb up: Production date 03/12 must be one of the last 2012's. BTW: i have not noticed any of the throttle tip-in issues mentioned with this car

I have the feature on my M3 and have yet to try it - and i'm in "no rush" to either
