Looking for a F30, no-Nav, no-Assist for testing in South Florida...

... I would like to try to find out which features can be enabled via coding in the standard Combox Media and the Professional Radio. No Nav, no Assist at this time.

If you are located between West Palm Beach and Miami then please PM if interested. Testing would be done in Ft. Lauderdale. Coding would be free.

Looking to see if Bluetooth Audio, Album Art, Voice Control and the use of the Apple white USB cable can be enabled in a non-Nav F30. I would need to connect the car to my laptop and read the features in the Combox Media that are deactivated. Then activate those and see if the iDrive can "pick them up".

BMW Apps may not be possible to enable as the Profesional Radio does not support it, but in a Nav car it may be possible.

No permanent changes will be performed. Actually, a dealer service/warranty update will erase any feature successfully enabled.

Hi Technic,
Have you managed to have a go at this?
I have a Modern 320d without Nav in the UK and asking my dealer to retrofit a Combox Media in order to get album artwork, enhanced BT and Office; there is no commix in basic F30s in the UK so it will need to be all added up hopefully from BMW to keep things under warranty.
I have been reading through the forums but no luck to see if it would work, i guess it would but no sure...
Thanks
Thomas

BimmerTech should be able to retrofit the Combox into your F30.

I am confused as Patryk told me I would need the Sat Nav... I thought the sat nav was a prerequisite if I want the Combox Telematics, but what about the Combox Media only? I have asked him but no answer yet
tks

We are trying to find out what can be actually coded in the Combox Media when the Professional Radio is installed, and not the CIC (Nav). Thus the reason of this thread.

In the UK we can see that the Professional Radio with the Combox Media do support the enhanced features of USB and Bluetooth as an option, though.

Exactly, the professional radio only; did you intend to put a link to a specific thread already discussing this?

"In the UK we can see that the Professional Radio with the Combox Media do support the enhanced features of USB and Bluetooth as an option, though." > Where did you see that?

Thanks

You can add the "Enhanced BT functionality with USB audio interface" for 290gbp; if if you want the Media package this ads BA and costs 1550gbp as it ads up with the Navigation System Pro

I have a feeling that only S06NK (ext BT) can be retrofitted if you have S06NH, this seems to have been discussed already

Hi guys, I have a f30 316d sport in the uk, I took delivery end of may. This does not have a combox installed. I had a good look around, and nothing. I took the trim apart to take a look at the radio, and all antennas are connected to the radio. I have pictures if you want to see.

I wanted the album art ect, and the white apple cable to work, but I have to use the y cable.

I do not think a retro fit is an easy option. There is no fiber loop in the cable loom, nor does the professional radio have a fiber input.

I retro fitted my e90 with nav and Bluetooth with USB audio, and the data is delivered over the fibre connection. In the e90 the pro radio had this connection, so adding modules was easy.

I believe from looking at realoem the radio I have is basic, that what it states on the label also.

I asume when you order advance Bluetooth from the factory, you get the combox and version of the head unit with fiber loop input.

This will also make a retrofit of the full nav tricky unless you can retrofit the fiber to the boot.

I am now looking at a multimedia interface box, with an additional nav box. I pump the have onto the 6.5" screen and also install a flexible touch screen over the oem screen to allow control of the nav box.

If you interested in how it goes I wil let you know.

That's another retrofit that we are looking into if there is no Combox Media installed. That is a factory option in Europe with non-Nav iDrives, but in the USA some F30 non-Nav iDrive came with the Combox Media as standard equipment but no enhanced features enabled obviously.

Well, have you posted to the coding forum?

And....not to put too fine a point on it....GOOGLE/BING? Several sites dedicated to BMW coding come up immediately.
