325i coolant flush

hi, i am in the process of changing my coolant in my 1990 325i. so i drained all the fluid and now i am just trying to refill it. there is a separate expansion tank from the radiateor on my car and i heard you dont have to bleed this system? also when i pour fluid into the expansion tank, it just fills up and doesnt seem to go into the rest of the system. any help would be much appreciated
thank you

Simply squeeze the hose everytime it will push more air out.

you do still need to bleed the system, but its only to get the very last of the air out. the expansion tank is the highest point on the system so theoretically with air rising on water it should self bleed. however this isnt the case, and some stays trapped. on the top of your radiator on the left hand side of the car you will see a small bleed screw with a phillips/crosshairs type head on it. thats the bleed screw.

Really? I had no idea about that. Squeezing should gte just about all the air out. It helps if you have someone looking in the tank while the other squeezes the hoses.

okay, that sounds good to me. so when i take this bleed screw off, do i just wait for the air to come out? or do i keep filling until fluid comes out of it?

i used the bleeder on top of t-stat housing. but yes, you open it up until fluid comes out, then close it, wait a bit and do it again a couple times. when you get a solid flow of water out of the bleeder, then it is hypothetically bled. then drive for about 10 minutes and watch the gauge. if the gauge jumps around, bleed again. if it stays solid, your good
