M62tu water pump new/old
Took my water pump off, I was thinking about replacing it but it seems fine.
Should the impeller spin freely/quickly on a new pump? When I turn mine it feels solid and turns fine but will not spin more than I turn it. Just wondering how much play the impeller should have. Should it spin freely like a pulley when I spin it around.

It won't continue to turn. There is a shaft seal which keeps the coolant from leaking, and the shaft from free wheeling when you spin it.

Agreed. It will not continue to turn. It should spin with little effort and have no shaft play though.
