What's Your Most Memorable F10 Maneuver

OK, lots of posts lately and from day 1 about the handling .... good or bad of the new F10.

What real world scrape has she gotten you out of, what kid in a Camero, which tailgating Papa John's driver have you used the awesome handling capability of the F10 to get you out of?

Cruising this week on our perimeter ring 12 lane freeway, running about 80 - 85 .... a truck retread suddenly appears from under the van ahead of me with little time to think.

Snapped the car over one lane to the right to avoid air dam / under car damage and right back in lane before you could say "holy cow" ......

535i Sport, no nannies other than DSC, flat and nimble in the snap slalom lane change at speed.

No problema

Thankfully we haven't had too many close calls; although they're inevitable. However, I do remember the overwhelming feeling and sense of security I had in the F10 braking system one evening.

My wife and I were on our way home and I was completely irresponsible for day dreaming and not paying much attention while driving (we've all done it). I was stopped at a red light but since I was such an idiot, I treated it like a stop sign. It was very late and not many cars on the road. Of course I'm in Sport mode and as I get on the gas, a huge big rig is growing ever so larger in my left peripheral. I instinctively slam the brakes and the car stops on a dime.

No screeching, no delay, just a dead halt so the truck was able to continue safely without making any evasive maneuvers. Completely my fault of course, not my finest hour, but definitely an eye opener to the awesome brake system that we take for granted everyday.

535i M sport, no ceramic brakes, no Brembo system, just stock quality BMW brakes.

This is the kind of thread where if you tell the truth, one of the pocket protector guys will give you a lecture on speeding.

So down play it and be "stealth."

And I took the countermeasure by accepting full responsibility JUST in case they attack lol

No doubt.

Assuming I-95 is heavily patrolled in all directions ...... is "Alligator Alley" or "The Tamiami Trail" better for a high speed blast ??

Probably Alligator Alley, although they may have aerial enforcement you have to watch out for. Tamiami trail doesn't have that good road surfaces so the traction may be a limitation from a safety perspective.

My favorite maneuver was passing 12 cars and a bus in a single maneuver on a single lane road. The bus was holding up all the 12 cars driving below the psl, but most did not have the hp to overtake on a single road. This is the first car I have owned which was capable of such a feat, and I would like to thank both Dinan and BMW for the effortless superiority of the Dinan Stage 2 N63 in making that breathtaking passing maneuver possible.

Driving my F10 550i on the AutoBahn at 142 mph, incredible, had lots of pedal left but traffic was becoming an issue so I shut it down. That is the fastest I have ever driven any car. Smooth and effortless.

Yes the passing power of a Dinan Stage 2 550 is astonishing. I have never driven a sedan with so much power and with the power available in so large a rev range.

My fav maneuver is flooring it in my Dinan Stage 2 550xi and watching each and every passenger I have ever had scream/squeal/gasp/yell in fear and then joy.

Mein Auto: BMWs!
Today! As I was headed back from Williamsburg, VA on I-95 with the Family cruising in the middle lane minding my own business when I noticed a Rig doing about around 75mph-- (I was at 82 exactly (HUD))- when the damn fool came all the way into my lane and the car in the left lane (a Genesis (BARF))- was left lane hogging to begin with…... Long story short-had to jam the brakes hard without any time for much else as the Genesis was too stupid to notice A HUGE FRIGGIN RIG almost running me over!!! (and I'd be damned if I was going to hit the POS Genesis with my car and leave any BMW paint on that wannabe (seriously that's what I thought at the time-besides I am about to DIE with my 4 year old and wife)- SO instinct took over, and as stated earlier I JAMMED The Brakes HARD and Jumped behind the Genesis with maybe 3-4 inches off his rear bumper to divert disaster (and luckily he didn't slam on his breaks too! as he figured out finally what was going on when the Rig recovered back into his lane and I flipped into DS Sport pulled back into the center lane and Kicked-Down Fast and Hard and next thing I know the Genesis was a distant memory and as I flew by both my wife looked at the driver of the Rig and the MF'r was text messaging!!!!! All in all it made me apperciate what I have always in my BMW's 1) Precision (handling, brakes, steering and driver/BMW Zen) 2) Power 3) and in this situation TWIN TURBOs that Kick hard and fast!!! Thanks to my F-10 we are all good to go. AND NEXT UP!! almost to Tyson's corner this time and a Re-tread comes flying off another damn Rig and went all over the place-luckily I was able to see one of the chunks coming at me and swiftly corrected so that it hit the windshield and not the hood. The RAM hauling the nice sport boat to the right of me not so lucky and took the majority of the Re-tread to his grill hood and fender. A few of the other cars that got smacked by the Re-tread not so lucky and one sideswiped the other. I was already gone and happy that I was able to ZEN once again with my F-10 and take the piece of Re-tread to the center of the windshield. I know it sounds crazy -but I have watched a chunk of cinder block hit my 08 X5's windshield and spider the windshield about the size of a golfball. The glass in BMW's IMHO is some of the best i have ever had. No Damage to the Windshield that I could find when we finally arrived safely at home. My wife unbuckled my kiddo from her Recaro seat and went into the house and I honestly thanked my BMW and gave it a lot of respect.

Just for the soap box talent out in forum space. I have set my speed warning at 101 and only heard it 3 times today ;-) This car is magnificent and yes it has it's cons-but I believe it pros out-weigh the cons by far.

I would like to see more HUD display info and that real IT!!!

CHEERS!!!!!!!
