Full screen in Iphone video playback?

Can this be done?

Everytime I tried playing some video on my Iphone it just shows up as a little screen. Not the album size one but even after waiting it out for it to "stretch" it's still has a big black boarder around the video on all 4 sides.

Kinda beats the purpose of having that large size LCD screen.

Is there anyway to make the video Full screen?

Not sure if this works for iPhone videos but it works for DVDs:

I am on my couch now but let me try to remember how to do it. From the video, hit the option button. I think if you scroll down, there will be an advanced options. From there, it should say "Zoom Mode". When I do this, DVDs play in complete full screen. No border whatsoever. I found this by playing around.

I did not even realize this was possible. Do you select a movies from the iPhone itself or through the interface? Learn a new thing everyday here. The only movies on my phone are the ones I took with it.

Let me know if it works. If you can't find the "zoom" mode, I will go to my car to see exactly how I got it.

I only seen the zoom function when on DVD mode.


Does any one know why when watching a DVD, the volume is defaulted really low?

Oh ok, sorry. I was hoping it worked for iPhone videos as well but I only tried it on DVDs.

I used to see all the movies in full screen from my iPhone. But after I updated to IOS 5.x it stopped working and now they are the half size. I have not tried adding a new movie tot he phone but the ones previously on the phone are half size.

That sucks, anyone know of any fix to this?

I watch Netflix TV on my iPhone and NAV screen. While connected to the media cradle, After the video begins, press the expand screen button on your iPhone. It's not fullsereen, but 3x4 ratio.

Mine goes back and forth from 16:9 small window with black borders all around to 4:3 with black borders left and right.

It's unpredictable and changes back and forth for the same video from my iPhone.

I haven't been able to replicate what makes it go from 16:9 to 4:3.

I'm running iOS 5.1.

I think what changed it last time was using Netflix in 4:3 mode...after that, the videos on my iPhone played in 4:3 mode. I'll try it again and see if that triggers it to go into 4:3 mode for everything.

Full screen seems out of the question.

Would love for it to be consistent and stay in 4:3 which is much better than the 16:9 small screen I get most of the time.

Yes you need the media cradle for video playback. Still trying to figure out how I can play full screen music videos from my iphone4s newest update.

Trying to see if there is a way to convert the video format in such way to allow proper viewing ratio for the screen size.

Anyone with a solution?

I haven't come up with anything yet. It seems that whatever format/viewing ratio you use you'll end up with a 4:3 aspect ratio. Funny enough...when I play material that's in 16:9 it gives me black borders all around with a small picture in the middle...then, if I play something that's in 4:3 native ratio the same previous video now plays in 4:3 with black borders only on the left/right. I don't think there's a way to get 16:9 or 4:3 material to play full screen as there is no zoom option like the one you get while playing a DVD.

Are you guys watching the video playback in Park? I still don't see the point of it if you can only use it in Park.

Yes. No zoom mode for iPhone video playback with current idrive OS.
