Anyone Else on Grand Mercury?

I'm on Grand Mercury which departed Bremerhaven on May 23. Right now, it's in the English Channel heading for Southampton. It's scheduled to depart Southampton later tomorrow (May 26). ETA New Jersey June 6. Adding 5 or so days for customs, VPC, dealer prep, etc., it will have been about 6 weeks since drop-off in Geneva on April 30.

I've been able to track the Grand Mercury, but only when it's somewhat near land. Now that it's in mid-ocean, I've lost it. Hopefully, I'll be able to pick up its scent when it approaches Halifax, around June 2.

You can try sailwx but it only reports twice a day at best.

I am on Grand Mercury too.
sailwx has not updated position since just before midnight UTC in May-26, right after it left Southampton.

After 8 days of zero contact, I now have a smile on my face again. The Grand Mercury has arrived in Halifax at around 2:00am this morning (EDT). Two more days and my new car will roll off the ship.

I'm wondering how many days will pass between the drop-off at the port in Newark, and my CA calling me to say the car is ready for re-delivery. I figure two days to clear customs, and another three to five days in VPC to repair the deep scratches to my rear bumper. Add another day or two at the dealer for their prep work. That would make seven to nine days. Am I being too conservative in my estimate?

Sounds reasonable, but how does it get to the dealer? I think you need to plan for some time for that as well.

I am hoping to clear customs and VPC by next Thursday (2 days for each) and get scheduled for truck transport on Friday. Then, hoping to hear on the following Monday what my options for PDC dates are.

Keeping my fingers crossed I can pick it up by last week of June.

Right, the ship left at 4:15pm EDT.

I didn't include any travel time from the VPC to my dealer, since it's less than 9 miles.

my first BMW

while on assignment in Europe this spring i bought my first BMW a 2012 328i. unfortunately i could not title it in Germany so it is now finally arriving in the US just about the time i am heading back for another month's assignment. the family will enjoy it while i am away.

i am disapointed that BMW withdrew the 335D in 2012, because i was really interested in a diesel. i am curious to see which diesels will be offered in the fall. i always try to rent diesels while on TDY and love them.

The Grand Mercury has arrived and is now in Newark, NJ. It would be nice if I could see the actual unloading of the cars.

Looks like it moved from where it was moored this morning.
Both spots have auto offload - google satellite view shows similar vessels moored with auto ramps down.

Looks like the crew will have a night off in the city before they head south to Brunswick.

The Grand Mercury has departed Newark and is enroute to Brunswick, GA, ETA June 11. Good luck with your new car, PCBREW.
My car was driven off the ship sometime late yesterday. Now, if I could only figure out how to track my car through customs and VPC. Anyone have any suggestions?

and the weather looks good (no Atlantic storms)

Per this thread, keep tracking at WW site until released to VPC. Your should show up as DISCHARGED by now.

The WW website will show when the car has cleared customs. If it shows that the car was discharged, but includes no other status updates, then it is probably still in customs. There really is no easy way to check about the status at VDC... Here are status updates from the WW website:

My status shows:

DELIVERED FROM NEW YORK, NY 07-06-2012 08:00:00 1
DISCHARGED NEW YORK, NY 06-06-2012 16:00:00 1
LOADED ON VESSEL BREMERHAVEN 23-05-2012 08:05:33 1
RECEIVED AT TERMINAL BREMERHAVEN 22-05-2012 07:15:13 1
BOOKED BREMERHAVEN 14-05-2012 18:56:28 1

The way I interpret this is that it cleared customs on June 7 at 08:00 GMT, and is now at VPC.

Hope that's correct, but others actually show "customs release"

Grand Mercury is now outside tracking range so will check in on her again Sunday evening as she approaches Georgia.

OK!! Now mine is also showing "CUSTOMS RELEASE", as well as "LINER RELEASE", same as yours, Chelles. Now if we can only get info on our car's movement through the VPC process.

Good luck for quick VPC turnaround HWF and chelles.

Am I the only 'fester left on Grand Mercury?
Maybe I can hope for quicker PCD scheduling.

Just curious, Chelles, where and when did you drop off your car? I dropped off mine in Geneva on April 30, which feels like months ago. I can hardly believe it took 23 days for it to finally be on the ship.
