X3 with, or without Sports Package?

My vehicle's apparently still on the "on order" status... I ordered the Silver Gray X3 3.0i, fully loaded except the SP and Premium Sound. Well, I won't be going off-road (pretty much never) and would be driving on snow for a bit (I live in Pennsylvania). My dealer told me that he has an X5 with Sports Package and he has to change tires during snow seasons. Well snow tires would give much nicer traction and everything..but would 18" all-year tires be that bad?? He told me that he doesn't recommend it too much, but it's my call.
I've read almost all of the reviews for the X3 and found that 99% agree that the X3 rides stiff and will become even stiffer (hence the ride would be ugly?) if I added the Sports Package. I actually e-mailed the guy who reviewed (for MSN Auto) the X3 with Sports Package...he told me not to get it.
I'm not too much of an active driver...but I would really like to have those sports seats! My dad just got his 530i (E60) with the Sports Package and it's totally awesome! Those 3 spokes look nice also...

Would the extra dollars for the Sports Package worth the investment? I've been reading through a lot of boards and it seems like a lot of X3 owners did not order the Sports Package...

Inputs please~!!!! Thanks a lot!!!!

I would recommend the sport package just due to the fact that it has better seats and the better steering wheel, plus the wheels and suspension would be nice too.

I have the SP on my X5 with the 18's (255/55/18) and the OEM Mich Energy all season tires, and have driven through some very nasty snow conditions in the mountains without a problem. That's not to say that snow tires wouldn't be a lot better...but I felt confident and had no issues.

Overall I was impressed with the traction I got using these tires considering the profile.

I live in Florida and am pondering the same thing. I like the looks of the SP and how much rougher can it get?

There are two flavors of X3 Sport packages, the standard comes with same sized wheels and all-season tires.(style 113 or 143 wheels). The high priced sports performance package comes with 18x8.0 front and 18x9.0 rears and performance tires.(style 114 wheels) The style 114 wheels are worth $500 at full price, 455 wholesale. The 114s are not recommended for driving in ice and snow.

Is this for both the 3.0 and 4.4? I never heard about 2 SPs for the 3.0....

X3 has no 4.4 option.

Sounds like this might be more your speed as it sounds like it fits your needs more closely than the X3.
