DIY service engine soon
The service engine soon idiot light is on and wont clear. I also had a microfilter warning. I was able to replace the filters but the service engine light is still on. I also reset the microfilter warning condition on the dash panel and it is now clear. On the i-drive system I have a emissions-related malfunction "increased emission". Is there a way to reset this withouit a trip to the dealership? I thought about disconnecting the battery terminal but I am a new owner of the 2004 645ci car and wasnt sure if disconnecting the battery would create an issue. Any suggestions or help? The car has 51,000 miles on it. Probably a o2 sensor but need some direction.

Do a search. I believe the reset is in this forum. If not here, then in the main 6 forum.

I had the same issue.. I was told by the dealer that the increased emissions came on because the car was to low on gas and the dealer went on and reset it.

Dissconnecting the battery won't mess up anything.. I done it twice. I have a 2005 646 ci convertible. The steering light will come on when you connect it back but out will go off on it's own

Thanks for the replies but the light went out on its own. Probably will come back on.
