How many speakers in my 2006 X3?
It's either 8 or 10 obviously. I tried looking. But its so hard when those covers are over them

Why obviously?
If you accept BMW's definition of what constitutes a speaker, it's 8, unless you have the upgraded sound system, then it's 10 (adds tweeters to the rear doors). It's more realistic to say there are 6 speakers (2 in the front doors, 2 under the front seats, and 2 in the rear doors). If a coaxial speaker is normally counted as 1 speaker, does it make sense that cars with separate tweeters count them as additional speakers? Even if they don't perform as well as coaxials? But then if tweeters don't count as a speaker, should the devices under the seats count because they too only reproduce a small part of the audio spectrum. I'm down to 4 now, but I'll settle for 6 -even though the answer to your question is 8 accepting common usage. |

Easy answer.
1 speaker per door. In the upgraded sound system they claim 2 per door. A seperate tweeter and driver. You can replace with a simple co-axial speaker as haveing seperates in a speaker so small accomplishes little to nothng unless you step up to uber level replacements. 1 8 inch speaker under each front seat. They like to call them sub-woofers, but since they can't get below 40 Hz with any control they are really mid-bass drivers at best. Please read sticky that was recently started from a post I made a while back. Lots of good tidbits in there from some very knowledgeable people.
