^^Pkathee, what does dropping the bumper actually allow? More room or just less stuff to remove? (i.e. Filter boxes)
Pdux says the headlight will move forward about 4 inches, wouldnt that be enough?? I'm NOT disputing, just want to know before I attack the bumper option.

To acquire leverage to the angel eyes cap, you’ll have to unscrew the headlight assembly off the car and move it forward a few inches away from the metal plate. You will be able to reach this cap, but still you might not acquire proper leverage in order to turn it. Bumper removal allows full access to the whole headlamp assembly without the metal plate being in the way at all. Makes sense? |

^^YES it does..that actually was my original complaint when I posted earlier.
I might just take a couple Viagras, grab my ballz, and DO IT!

Thanks Sho! Yours will be much brighter. Either direction you go i know you'll get it done. Just take your time and once you get it done you'll be satisfied you did and didnt overpay the stealership for something simple.

Very impressed with your write up of LEDs and angel eyes Sam! You sure know your stuff. I have a 2001 AC Schnitzer S7. Is it still easy/possible to get angel eyes and interior LEDs for this model? And if so where would you recommend getting them from? Not too worried about the dollars. Cheers

Knuckles,
For the interior LED's, just follow the guide. It will work the same for your car as with anyones car. You need to find which interior bubls you want to replace and then use the guide to find the correct replacement. You can then order from superbrightleds.com For the headlights, I dont know if they make angel eyes for your model. I do know that they make replacement headlights. Do some searching on ebay and you will find the replacements. Again, always double check fitment before ordering!! |

I replaced my Angel Eyes today! I dont know why they say you have to remove your bumper. Thats crazy! It took about 10 mins on one side and about 20 mins on the other. It was a cinch, now my eyes work and errors are gone. Thanks Guys!!!!

I would like to do this mod myself. But I am a bit confused with the whole "need to remove" or "do not remove" the bumper issue. I have a 2007 750Li and I think some have said that you do have to remove the bumper for that year. Then others say you don't. I tried searching the forum for a definite answer, but only found mixed answers.
Also...just out of curiosity, does anyone know of a reliable shop that can do this in the Lake County Illinois area? Just in case lol. Thanks for your help! |

Remove the bumper is 15 minute one man job. Then is easy access to headlights

@mode, anything after '05 will need to have the bumper removed.

Upgraded angel eyes
I just upgraded the angel eyes with the mtec 3. They look great at night, but am somewhat disappointed with the look during the day. This may be due to my wrong impression that they would be visible during the day. Can someone tell me if it is normal for them to be barely visible during the day or if perhaps, I did not install them correctly? As noted, they look great during the night. This is not meant as a knock to mtec, I'm simply wondering if I didnt install them correctly or if my expectations were misplaced in hoping for them to be visible during the day. Thanks!

Did mine last month. They are bright enough that you can see them across the parking lot in bright daylight.

I had to remove the bumper to get to the angel eye on the airbox side. I think its case by case basis. some headlight plastic (twist) cover gets stuck and like everyone else says you cannot get enough leverage with your hands to power twist it off. Some cars covers may be less dirty? So They twist off easier? If you go into the angel Mod with removing the bumper, the process is fast. I f you go into the mod thinking you cannot remove the bumper and haggle for 2 hours, having a strong possibility you will remove it anyways... Just remove it. After the first time removing the bumper its super easy the second time. Especially when you forget a step... then have to take the bumper back off...
