Rear side-impact air bags is not offered at all.
I just discovered that 5 series don't have rear side-impact air bags anymore at all (torso protection airbags). I find this very surprising, can someone please explain me reason why BMW decided to drop them?
Thanks, Vadim |

I thought that it did have them, it just isn't an option as its a standard feature?

Read the specs. 5 series do not have them. My dealer confirmed it and he is also surprised.

The E-Class dropped them as standard features as well (the previous E had them standard. Rear torso bags however are an OPTION for the E now. Surprising if it's not even an option for the 5.
WTF kind of cost cutting is that?! EVERY cheapo Econ car these days has rear torso bags as STANDARD! The last place anyone, especially *Luxury Manufacturers* should cost cut is in safety.

. Which raises bigger question: "where else in safety did they cut corners and we don't know about it?".
