Muffler fell off

...after I removed the clamps and hangers

My wife and I took it for a test drive in the mountains Saturday. I decided I like it and will have tailpipes fabricated. Rips pretty good, nice cescendo of sound and power. She asked, " Why do you like it.... Because it sounds like a racecar? " Yep

I may just pick up some tubing and have a cut/weld session at a friends. Not sure I want to pay the muffler shop and, I would have to make my wife take it in, I work much longer hours than the shop is open. 8 ft section, couple clamps and couplers ought to do it.

You should make a video clip. I always thought the M30 sounded like ass straight piped.

Sounds a little hollow right now because it is dumping into the big cavity left by the muffler. Once the pipes are on I will post a clip. Pretty good deep rumble at low rpm, starts to rip around 4k, by 5k you are wishing there was another 2000 revs to be had because it sounds awesome.

I am actually a little worried it will be too tame

What I really want to do is merge the two into a single 3" with a convertor and a longer Magnaflow glasspack in the middle and straight pipe the rest. That way I could add a muff in the original spot easily if need be. Payday today so... maybe let the muff shop have at it??? Such decisions...

My exhaust recently got some holes put threw it from some rocks. Had to replace it to pass inspection. The secondary muffler had to be cut off, so I went with a billy boat E34 exhaust system. I'm not a big fan of my car making noise, but it sounds decent and won't rust. The hangers had to be ordered from the stealership.

At the end of the day, it's one grand total for stainless steel vs three grand for OE alloy shipped from Germany. I don't like to draw a lot of attention, so I was concerned about the sound, but it isn't all that loud. Just gives a bit of a rumble, like you would hear from a old Chevy Chevelle small block.

I prefer OE where possible, but at this point the OE exhaust was out of the question. I wish I was a fan of muffler noise, but I ain't. That being said, it's not all that bad with the new set up. And this billy boat thing looks better made than BMW itself, so I'd say all in all it's an improvement.

If you think it's too tame, cut the resonator out too Or keep the resonator and gut the cats.

I have the M30 and I like how it sounds. All I have are the cats. And another couple thousand revvs would be pretty awesome!

Well, in the vid posted, the guy doesn't have a resonator or muffler.

Are you going to do a single straight pipe, or two?

So Peed... They hung it too low. Need to take it back next sat for them to hang it right. I already scraped it on a dip in the road.
