I have no idea if they need to be reprogrammed if changed. I was looking at another TSB and was thinking if : you have this issues when engine running?

Replaced battery with Autozone 49-DL after placing brand new battery on 48 hour trickle charge,

Then , while GM3 was still removed , drove the car to dealer to have them dx battery drain .

Dealer reported :

Right Front Door Module ( fuse circuit #8 ) was culprit in intermittent battery drain.
Dealer left fuse out for me and I plan to try the RFDM swap in near future.
I pulled all fuses individually at least 3 times in my efforts to isolate the drain . I did not experience the stopping of the drain . Dealer stated that need to wait the 16 minutes for sleep mode . I believe that I did that all 3 times .

Dealer found that GM3 came back to life ; all GM3 systems are back again .
How did that happen?

Dealer also reported 2 codes appeared :
- Adjustable Steering Column : I believe that I do not experience any issues as it still moves up/down and in/out.
Perhaps related to GM3 being out for a while?
- Passenger Seat Occupancy map : causes dash Air bag icon to light up . Dealer said probably due to wear/tear or broken wire connection.

Will monitor drain over several days and report any issues that arise. Hope RFDM is the issue . RFDM is part number : 61 35 6 904 243 , approx $300, plus dealer quoted one hour dealer labor.

Thanks to all who chimed in on this. I continue to learn .

I was originally quoted approx 1. 5 hours @ $130 /hour .
They had car at 7:30 AM and took it right away.
I left and surprisingly did not hear from them until the next day just before noon.

I had an extensive conversation with the service agent who seemed to be a reasonable fellow .
After an hour plus at the dealership , we agreed upon $260 plus tax.
This was much better than the original invoice and it required quite a bit of discussion.
We are on good terms and i would go back to them .

I prefer to do the tinkering myself if I can find the how to's... in the forums.

This path was not what I had anticipated .
I felt that isolating the issue would be easy.
Hope that the Dx is correct .

I've seen Alternators with shorted diode packs drain batteries. Tried everything else first, then found it to be the Alternator.
