For what it's worth I'd say the customer has way more credibility than any dealer I've met (even the nice ones!) The nonsense about price negotiation or lack thereof is rather typical of all car dealers except Saturn (which sadly is kaput). Certainly the dealer can make the decision whether to negotiate, but they need to respect the customer who decides to walk when the price they quote is too high (which is almost always the case at "fixed-price" dealers).
I appreciate the dealer's effort to take the time to respond (most would not) and to confront the issues. Hopefully the sales person and managers involved in the incidents will modify their behavior to be more consumer-friendly. It was not becoming of the BMW brand.
