Ended up having to pay the increase in MSRP from 2012-2013, not sure it's worth it for Eco Pro and auto start-stop (I can't stand it).

Hope you were able to get yours. Dealer told me they got 26 delivered in a span of 3 days.

So where is Norm50's "long-delayed" X3? Curious minds want to know?

Considering that Calgary is in the Mountain time zone, and that he was scheduled to pick it up tonight, hopefully he's butt-in-seat about now, and enjoying his new X3.

He's probably forgotten us. Not a care in the world. Too busy finding that sweet spot at 4000 PRM's as we winds through the mountain roads. We'll probably never hear from him again..., until he runs out of gas. Then he'll be back.

Norm is probably just sitting there admiring his long delayed car! After awhile he will let us know how things went, what the dealer gave him for the obscene delay, and how much he enjoys the new ride!

Lol... not sure if that makes it worthwhile either.

One question about the driving experience control... Does Sport mode change steering at all without M-Sport (DDC/DHP/Variable steering)? I tried it and didn't really notice a difference (aside from holding gears and throttle response), and the only "configuration" that pops up on iDrive is those gauges.

Sport+ sets everything to the sportiest settings.

Sport enables you to select drivetrain and/or suspension (if your car is equipped with DDC).

Ok Norm, you should have had enough time to check out your new X3! How about a rundown on how things went and any explanation the dealertried to give you for the delay.

I repeat my comment of May 31 and my vote is for the latter. Meh...

I like to think that Norm is just out having a great ride in his new X3 and will get back soon enough to tell us the final chapter of his saga with the dealer.

Maybe he drives a Q5 and just posted this 'story' to crank up potential customers?

Well here it is, after a wait of 198 days, a trip of 2,880 miles across 2 countries my X3 finally arrived. I did not have to pay the increase in price from 2012 to 2013, and got a discount on some of the after market add-ons like paint, leather and hood protection. I love it!! A big step up from my '98 Pathfinder. Don't much care for the Eco mode where the engine shuts down when you stop - it's like driving a golf cart. Fortunately it can easily be overridden, either by feathering the brake pedel just before you stop or completely turning it off next to the start/stop button.

I picked my X3 up on the evening of May 29 and didn't have to pay the increase probably because I ordered it in November 2011. Yes, the ECO mode does take some getting used to, I'm glad the sales guy told me about it because it was quite freaky the first time in happened.
I'll keep my eyes open for your white X3. Did you get M-sport and all of the add-ons? I got everything execpt for HuD.

Congrats Norm. I've never been so happy to be wrong.

BTW, your mSport has silver roof rails... was that a special order?

And I've never been so happy to get a new vehicle!! What an ordeal.

I didn't specifically order the Satin Roof Rails, but remember the sales guy saying something about roof rails when I ordered it - can you believe I can remember back to November? I just checked the X3 configurator on the Canadian BMW site, it is still configuring a 2012 model. When you try to select satin roof rails on the Options page it wants to de-select the M-Sport package
I checked my order and satin roof rails are not listed as a separate item so maybe they came standard as part of the 2013 model.

... and those Horsepower and Torque guages on your previous post are pretty cool. I also love the smart phone integration where it automatically synchs to my cell phone's address book and displays it on the screen.

Well done Norm! I had faith in you all along. Now then, what sort of excuse did the dealer give for the obscene delay in getting your car? Anyway, as they say all's well that ends well. Enjoy your new ride.

I have a '12 X3 and with a little coding I activated this option myself
